Original Concept (The Villains)

Some of the villains for an original concept I'm working on. We'll see where it goes from here.

Original Concept (The Good Guys)

Here's some characters I'm working on for an original concept. These are some of the heroes. I'll be adding to the line-up as I continue to work on the concept.

Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes

For this image of the Fantastic Four I pretty much used the designs given to them in the Ultimate Marvel Universe. There's only minor changes. I thought the prominent white in the uniforms of the most recent animated series had a good look to it, so I incorporated that.

The Brotherhood of Mutants: Animated

Animated style of The Brotherhood of Mutants I came up with. Let me know what you think.

Mortal Kombat: Warriors of Light

Raiden - I know the name Raiden comes from the Japanese thunder god, but I decided to use the Chinese thunder god, Lei Gong, for inspiration. Because of Mortal Kombat having a lot do with the Shaolin monks of China, I went with Chinese mythology. Lei Gong is described as having blue-green skin, claws, birds wings, a beak, and carries a hammer and drum. Now, I kept him human looking but liked the idea of the blue-green skin. The clothing was inspired by an image I found of the god, plus other Chinese styles. I did my best to mix the two ideas so that it would still resemble what most know Raiden to look like, while also being an original, interesting take on the character.

Liu Kang - For this design I pretty much just went with the classic Shaolin monk look for him. I kept his more typical red and black color scheme though to keep him somewhat recognizable.

Sonya Blade - Considering Sonya Blade is supposed to be a member of a Special Forces unit, I wanted to move her away from the spandex and leather and into something more military looking. I understand that she is only wearing an underarmour sports bra here, but this would only be while participating in a tournament match. I plan on working up an image of her in all her SF gear later on.

Johnny Cage - I went with the idea that he's a UFC fighter-turned-actor and is participating in the tournament to prove that he still has what it takes. So, I went with a UFC look using the typical black, red and blue color scheme he's often seen wearing.

Goro

This is my take on Goro. I originally tried to work with the idea that he is described as being half dragon, but after a few sketches I decided to use the face and body style, which I always really liked, that appeared in the 1995 film. I added a few bumps and ridges to his face and made the legs a length that fit his elongated torso a little better. As for costuming, I decided to go with a gladiator look for him. Something about his character and personality made me think that look would work for him. The equipment was inspired by the series "Spartacus" along with other equipment and costuming I found in searches on-line.

The Avengers

Another pin-up for Megacon 2011. I used the Ultimate Marvel designs of Iron Man and Thor. I went for a more Kirby inspired Hulk. For Captain America I went with a more modern looking military uniform incorporating the color scheme of his usual costume.

X-Men: First Class

This is a pin-up of my designs for the original X-men I did for a print at Megacon 2011.
